In my current project I am developing models to predict the uptake of chemicals (additives or contaminants) from fish feed and their metabolism and potential accumulation in the fish fillet. The goal is to develop a generic model that can be applied across a large range of compounds by employing quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSAR).

In my previous research I studied the occurrence of new and emerging contaminants (non-target screening) in sediment, water, sewage sludge and biological samples. Most recently my research was focused on the Arctic marine environment. The techniques I used include gas chromatography (GC), comprehensive two-dimensional GC (GCxGC) and liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS). I have developed and used different tools and techniques to facilitate and prioritize the identification of unknown organic contaminants by using for example time trend analysis or retention time prediction in combination with a newly developed retention index for GCxGC.
