Harald Loeng

Utdannet med hovedfag i fysisk oseanografi ved Universitetet i Oslo i juni 1974, og jobbet deretter ved Marinbiologisk Stasjon i Tromsø. Siden 1 desember 1976 har Havforskningsinstituttet vært arbeidssted. Her har hovedfokus vært på klimaforskning i de våre nordligste havområder og effekten klimaet har hatt på det marine økosystemet. Han har ledet flere faggrupper og forskningsprogrammer ved instituttet.i tidsrommet 1992- 2011. I tidrommet 2012- otober 2015 var han forskningsdirektør med ansvar for havøkologi. I perioden 2003-2009 var han også professor II ved Universitetet i Tromsø

Harald Loeng har ved to anledninger vært hovedforfatter av kapitler i store internasjonale utredning om Arktis. 1) Marine transportveier for forurensning rapporten fra Arctic Monitoring and Assessment Programme (AMAP) i 1996 og 2) ”Marine Systems” som kapittel 9 i Arctic Climate Impact Assessment (ACIA, 2005)
