I am working as a bioinformatician and my current research focuses on understanding the role of marine environment in the emrgence of Antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Additionally, we also study the contribution of microplastics and other chemical substances (like PFAS) toward AMR arising in the environment. It includes recognizing the known and novel AMR. For our work we use a lot of computational methods from homology to machine learning models. It can be on bacterial isolates or metagenomic samples. Since we work with a variety of samples we also involve in recognizing the novel bacteria. Our work also helps to understand the effects of increased anthropogenic activities on the microbiota.
