Ocean Science Bar

Statsraaden Bar & Reception, Bradbenken 2, Bergen

Tagging & tracking fish – what can we learn?

Come and hear Keno Ferter from the Institute of Marine Research and Knut Wollset from NORCE present their research about where fish go and what they do.

Satellite tagging and data logger telemetry have revolutionized our understanding of marine vertebrates, including fish. This empowers researchers to unravel the mysteries of marine life, contributing to conservation and scientific knowledge. In this event two researchers will present some of their research, and talk about how these technologies provide new and essential knowledge for a more sustainable management of fish stocks.

  • Satellite tagging of Bluefin tuna in Norway, by Keno Ferter, Institute of Marine Research (HI)
  • Fish tracking to understand life and death, by Knut Wiik Vollset, NORCE

At 19:00-20:00, Thursday 28 November, in Statsraaden Bar & Reception at Bryggen.

The event is free and open for all!

Ocean Science Bar is a collaboration between Statsraad Lehmkuhl, the University of Bergen, the Institute of Marine Research, NORCE, and the Nansen Center. At the Statsraaden Bar & Reception you are welcome to enjoy highlights from marine research and ocean related issues in informal and relaxing surroundings.
